COPE EVENTS COMING UP IN 2015

 Thursday 19 February 2015 – COPE Valentine Lunch
We will be celebrating St. Valentine’s Day with a lunch at The Dolphin Hotel in St Ives. From 12.00 noon on
Thursday 19 February. The carvery lunch will cost £8.75. Desserts available at an extra charge.
Make your cheque payable to the ‘Dolphin Hotel’ and send with a stamped self addressed
envelope, to the COPE Office by Thursday 12 February to book your place for a ticket to be
issued.
St. Ives is easy to get to on the guided bus, so come along to this lively restaurant overlooking the river.

Wednesday 11 March 2015 – Silverlinks talk about a range of topics including repairs and renovations, adaptations and equipment, the range of purpose built housing for older people.

Friday 20 March –A visit to the American Cemetery, Cambridge followed by lunch at Coton’s Polhill Garden Centre – two courses for £12 including tea or coffee.

Thursday 23rd April - Afternoon Tea and Scones at Scotsdales Garden Centre, Great Shelford. £4.50.per person.

Speakers for COPE Huntingdonshire Meetings at St Ives Free Church on the second Friday of each month from 10.30am to 12.30. With your host, COPE Vice Chair, Gerald Collins: “I am confident there will be subjects of interest to you all. And we always have a raffle and free refreshments.”

Friday 13 February – Citizens Advice Bureau talk on ‘Save Money on Energy Bills
Friday 13 March – Speaker to be advised.
Friday 10 April – Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Members from all areas are welcome at these meetings, helping to swell numbers will allow Gerald to engage interesting speakers. The guided bus should make the journey easier with the bus stop a few minutes away.

    • Thursdays 10am to 12:00 noon. Knit & Natter – The Coffee House, 132 Wulfstan Way, Cambridge. Members can make their own garments or knit for The Rosie which has a constant need for hats, matinee jackets and small blankets for premature babies – a great use for leftover wool of any colour. Do come along for coffee and a chat. Tel. the COPE Office on 01223 364303 for patterns or obtain from the group on Thursday morning.

 Past COPE Events

2013 - International Day of Older People event on 1st October 2013 at Cambridge Regional College. 

2012 - A ceilidh with the Gog Magog Ceilidh Band was held at the Cambridge Regional College to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st.

2011 - BBQ and live music from “New Beginnings” at Comberton to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st. 

Events for 2010 -  included COPE Forum in July and trips organised by Richmond Coaches specifically for COPE members.  An Autumn Jazz Party with Rosie Val to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st.

Events for 2009 - included 'Mamma Mia' at the Prince of Wales Theatre, an evening with Andy Harper - DJ with Radio Cambridgeshire, music by Prime Brass, a visit to the Chocolate Lady at Steeple Bumpstead & Gainsborough House in Sudbury, a trip to Pensthorpe (host of BBC's Springwatch),  a live show at Brick Lane Music Hall and a Christmas Seaside Special on Cromer Pier.  A Jazz evening with Freddie & Friends on the Riverboat Georgina was organised to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st.
 

Events 2008 - included walks: Antique Quiz and Valuation evening; an evening with Sally Chidzoy (report/presenter with BBC Look East since 1986); a Musical interlude provided by the Palm Tree'o; a River cruise aboard the Nottingham Princess;the Theatre to see "Dirty Dancing"; Chartwell visit; recital by the CANN Twins; trip to Thursford Christmas Spectacular to include lunch and a Christmas Spectacular at the Snape Maltings.  A free Fashion Show & Cookery Demonstration courtesy of Eaden Lilley arranged to celebrate International Day of Older People on October 1st. contact us  

 


 

 

 
Membership of COPE is FREE. COPE acknowledges some valuable financial support from Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council and South Cambs District Council. 

However donations to enable us to represent issues concerning our age will be gratefully received. COPE also raises funds through advertising in our Newsletters and display stalls at our Forums.  For more information contact us
