COPE says "DON'T COMPLAIN - CAMPAIGN" and "OUR STRENGTH IS IN OUR NUMBERS"

COPE has just under 3.000 registered individual members.

Our campaign in 2011 was to "Bring back the Cheque Guarantee Card" - sadly this was not successful.   Banks, Post Office, shops, department stores, petrol stations, dentists and many other outlets that used to accept cheques now refuse them, as there is no guarantee that the cheque will not bounce. Utility companies, BT and even SAGA insurance now charge an administration fee when cheques are used.  They are forcing us to use debit and credit cards.

Our campaigns in 2010 were "The Best Bus Driver Award" and "Retain Cheque Books" in Cambridgeshire.   COPE received over 12,000 signatures to support our campaign to save the Cheque Book - It has now been saved!

COUNCIL TAX DOUBLES IN TEN YEARS - For many years Cambridgeshire has been one of the fastest growing populations in the country, how can we cope with such rapid expansion with little or no extra resources.  Cambridgeshire County Council is struggling with the cost of providing for an ageing population and needs of residents with complex health and learning disabilities.  Write to COPE with your opinion.

A message from Pat Daniels, Resident Involvement co-ordinator at Granta Housing (20.9.11)

“I am pleased to be able to inform you that Granta Housing Society has agreed to make a grant of £650, which I understand will be used towards the equipment for COPE’s new office in Cambridge.  I wish the new office every success and would like to visit you when the offices are open.  Please do keep me informed of the progress of the opening and any way that I can help.”
